Migration and VISA Information

The VISA is the authorization issued by the Consulates and Embassies of the Plurinational State of Bolivia abroad that enables foreign citizens to enter Bolivia for the purpose of participating in the 37th International Computer Olympiad.

Bolivian visa regulations establish three groups of countries. Therefore, it is recommended that you check the group to which your country of residence belongs to understand the procedure for each group, as described below:

GROUP I

Persons of Group I nationality do NOT REQUIRE an entry visa to visit Bolivian territory. Entry will be granted by carrying a passport valid until at least January 2026. Nationals of MERCOSUR and CAN countries may alternatively present a national identity document (DNI) for entry.

GROUP II

People of nationality from countries included in Group II DO REQUIRE a VISA to enter Bolivian territory.

To obtain a VISA, there are two methods:

  • The organizing committee will process the courtesy visa through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
  • Visitors can obtain entry authorization to Bolivian territory upon arrival through the General Directorate of Immigration (there is a fee for this authorization).

The Courtesy Visa application process must be managed by the organizing committee (Ministry of Development Planning). Through internal coordination, they will arrange for the Courtesy Visa application to be made available to the Bolivian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. You should also consider having the following documentation when accessing the previous page:

  1. A legible copy of your passport, which must be valid until at least January 2026.
  2. For minors under 18 years of age, a document issued in the country of residence and issued by the minor's guardianship delegation must be translated and legalized.
  3. To coordinate the Courtesy Visa, select the consular office closest to your residence (the table below details Bolivian consular offices abroad). It is important to note that if an extension is authorized, each participant must coordinate with the office of their choice for the issuance of said visa.
  4. Complete entry and exit itinerary (dates and times)

Once the aforementioned requirements have been submitted, the organizing committee will proceed with the corresponding procedures and, as soon as authorization for the Courtesy Visa extension is obtained, will immediately contact the delegates by country. Consequently, to obtain a Courtesy Visa at the designated consular office, the interested party must complete the Courtesy Visa Application Form at the following link: https://visas.cancilleria.gob.bo.

Once the Courtesy Visa is obtained, participants and guests will be able to enter Bolivian territory with a passport valid until January 2026 and a copy of their invitation letter.

It should be noted that if the requested information is not submitted within the established deadlines, the Bolivian State is not responsible for any charges incurred by Immigration. Therefore, you must process your entry authorization through the General Directorate of Immigration at the Bolivian airport.

The entry authorization process will be completed upon arrival in Bolivian territory at the offices of the General Directorate of Immigration. You must present the following:

  1. Original passport valid for a minimum of 6 months upon entry to Bolivia.
  2. Photocopy of passport
  3. Printed entry and exit itinerary
  4. Copy of hotel reservation
  5. Financial solvency (bank account statement)
  6. For minors under 18 years of age, a document issued in the country of residence by the minor's guardianship office must be translated and legalized.
  7. Have a card to pay the entry authorization, equivalent to 300 Ufvs, US$160 for Americans only (in cash in US dollars).

GROUP III

Nationals of countries included in Group III DO REQUIRE a Courtesy VISA to enter Bolivian territory, after consulting with the Consular Office corresponding to the Plurinational State of Bolivia.

The countries in Group III will not be able to process visas in Bolivian territory. Therefore, all Olympiad participants and visitors are advised to comply with the established deadlines for registering for participation and submitting the required documentation.
