MIgration and VISA information

The VISA is a travel document issued by the Consulates and Embassies of the Plurinational State of Bolivia abroad that enables foreign citizens to enter Bolivia in order to participate in the 37th International Computer Olympiad.

For the extension of VISAS to enter Bolivian territory, three groups of countries are classified. Therefore, it is recommended to check the group to which your country of residence belongs to be aware of the group procedure, described below:

GROUP I

Nationals of the countries included in Group I do not need to manage the entry VISA; entry is allowed with a passport valid until at least January 2026.

GROUP II

Nationals of the countries included in Group II do require a VISA to enter Bolivian territory.

The countries that make up Group II are:

To obtain the VISA, there are two modalities:

  • Through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Organizing Committee will manage the Courtesy VISA
  • Through Immigration, the visitor can obtain a Tourist VISA upon arrival

The procedure for the Courtesy VISA must be managed by the Organizing Committee (Ministry of Development Planning), who through official notes will manage the viability of the Courtesy VISA before the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bolivia. For this management, it is required that the participant or visitor has the following requirements at the time of registration and fill them out in the link Courtesy VISA Application Form:

  1. Legible scan of the Passport, which must be valid for at least January 2026.
  2. For minors under 18 years of age, notarized Power of Attorney from the guardianship delegation of the minor.
  3. To coordinate the Courtesy VISA, choose the consular office closest to your residence (see table below).
  4. Complete itinerary of entry and exit from the country (dates & times).

Once the requirements detailed above are submitted, the Organizing Committee will proceed with the corresponding procedures and as soon as the authorization to extend the Courtesy VISA is obtained, it will immediately communicate with the delegates by country. Consequently, for the issuance of the Courtesy VISA at the designated consular office, the interested party must fill out the Courtesy VISA Application Form through the following link: https://visas.cancilleria.gob.bo.

As soon as the Courtesy VISA is obtained, the entry of participants and guests to Bolivian territory will be carried with the passport whose minimum validity must be until January 2026 and a copy of their letter of invitation.

It should be clarified that, if the requested information is not sent within the established deadlines, the Plurinational State of Bolivia is not responsible for the charges generated in immigration, so you must process your tourist VISA to enter Bolivian territory.

INQUIRIES FOR THE COURTESY VISA: The email receiving inquiries is as follows: ioi2025@planificacion.gob.bo. It is recommended to send a request for information with the following reference "COURTESY VISA + [COUNTRY OF RESIDENCE]", example: COURTESY VISA - USA.

On the other hand, the procedure for the Tourist VISA will be carried out at the time of entering Bolivian territory and you must present the following:

  • Original passport with validity and validity of up to 6 months
  • Photocopy of Passport
  • Printed entry and exit itinerary
  • Hotel Booking, Copy
  • Economic solvency (account statement)
  • Power of attorney of the guardian (in case of minors)
  • Event Invitation
  • Have a card for the payment of the VISA (300 Ufvs), only for Americans $us 160 (in cash in US dollars).

GROUP III

Nationals of the countries included in Group III, do require a Courtesy VISA, for entry into Bolivian territory, after consulting the Consular Office that corresponds to the General Directorate of Migration (DIGEMIG) of Bolivia.

The countries that make up Group III will not be able to manage VISAS in Bolivian territory, so it is suggested that all participants and visitors of the Olympiad comply with the deadlines established in the registration of their participation and the mandatory documentation.
